What is a Doula?

A doula is a Greek name for servant or handmaiden. The term is used today to mean "to mother the mother".

There are two types of doulas: A woman that attends the birth and helps with labor; or a woman who goes to the mothers home and cares for the mother and newborn after the birth.
What is a Postpartum Doula?
 

A postpartum doula provides non-intrusive, non-judgemental support according to the family needs and wishes. She is there to facilitate your time to settle in, relax and heal, while making sure that your daily routines of life and household remain anchored as much as possilbe. She is there to free you up to do nothing but be with your baby and other family members or the take the baby so you can sleep or attend to any of your personal needs.

Triangle Mothercare services focuses on in-home postpartum care for mother, infant and other family members. We provide a nurturing atmosphere for the whole family through our support and our services.
